Happy New Year, Oystercatcher!

When I went to North Beach today with my husband and friends, I felt really lucky to live in such a beautiful place, especially on the first day of a new year. Usually I’m alone when I walk there on a winter day, or there may be one other hardy soul walking a frisky dog. Today half of Port Townsend must have noticed the sun out and the low tide, and decided to take a walk. Or maybe it’s a New Year’s tradition here? Certainly this Black Oystercatcher was happy to be out for a stroll and a few fresh barnacles to welcome the new year.
