Fourteen Great Blue Herons and an Oyster Farm

To see fourteen Great Blue Herons fly overhead was a magnificent sight! Yesterday I was walking on a remote oyster farm by the Hood Canal, a fjord between Seattle and Port Townsend, and noticed several perched atop the tallest evergreens. I was looking down at purple sanddollars, stubby sea urchins, spindly Kelp Crabs, and delicious Pickleweed growing with Rockweed on the pebbly bank. Suddenly fourteen Great Blue Herons flew by, one with a twig in its long bill.

Wonderful photos Wendy! Minus-tides for the next few days. And hopefully less rain! Enjoy. BTW, did you buy some oysters?

Thanks, Corinne! Yes, raw oysters two nights ago, spaghetti with clams last night, and fried oysters tonight! I feel like a forager again.
